As Victoria’s premier bulk port, GeelongPort manages 12 million tonnes of cargo and $7 billion of trade annually with over 600 vessel visits per year. Shipping activity is linked to a range of critical trades supporting the agriculture, construction, energy, and tourism sectors in the region.

About the opportunity

As GeelongPort’s Sustainability Manager, you will play a key role in shaping GeelongPort’s sustainability strategy and be responsible for all aspects of GeelongPort’s sustainability reporting and for driving a multi-year sustainability program.

Key responsibilities include:

• Development and delivery of the sustainability strategy; managing the implementation of the strategy through all phases and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve great results.
• Leading the development and reporting of key ESG performance indicators, including the annual GRESB submission, SBTi and the annual sustainability report.
• Development of strategies to achieve our long-term carbon reduction targets and managing climate-based risks across the organisation.
• Lead the development and delivery of the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) as the chair of the internal reconciliation working group (RWG), working with traditional owners to strengthen our relationships.
• Ensure the organisation keeps pace with leading developments in sustainability, bringing new ideas and experiences forward to help shape a culture of sustainable business practices.

About you

This role is a hands-on role and presents a great opportunity for a sustainability professional to take the next step in their career.

Ideally, you will have a bachelor's degree (or higher) in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental or Social Policy or other related discipline along with experience in a similar environment. You will require excellent leadership, influencing, coaching and mentoring skills and demonstrating an ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

You will possess:

• Demonstrated experience in sustainability reporting and in developing and implementing strategies
• Strong business acumen along with highly developed organisational skills and a proven ability to multitask, prioritise and meet deadlines
• Organisational change management
• Growth mindset
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• A collaborative style, that understands the importance of effective engagement processes, with the ability to work across a broad range of stakeholders, internally and externally.
